Return to her best writing

I've read a lot of Catherine Mann. For me her earlier writings were much better but this story marks a return to tight stories with likeable characters who grown in the story. They are comfortable characters with problems. I found her longer length books to lack focus and the characters to be sloppy and ill defined. They have grand backgrounds and noble goals but lacked the where with all to carry them out. This story presents a hero with a problem, who is injured, not scarred in need of rehabiliation by the heroine. He is a true hero who falls for the heroine and puts himself on the line to help her, because he cares, not because it is a storyline contrivance. Keep this up and I'll buy more.

A deeper look

I have been a Catherine Mann fan for years and have always enjoyed the action and wit of her previous books. I loved the fact that this book definitely has her voice, but takes it to an even deeper level of introspection. Mann fans will love the flavor that is uniquely hers, while enjoying a darker storyline with a trip into the hearts of the protagonists.

Another Wingman Keeper

Catherine Mann writes another thrilling Wingmen Warriors story in Out Of Uniform. Tech Sergeant Jacob "Mako" Stone after being injured on a mission had come home to help with the family's business. His father had also passed away leaving him in charge of his teenage new mom baby sister. This was a lot on one mans plate but Jacob felt he had a good gripe on things. He wasn't planning on helping a woman in distress too. Jacob's military instincts go on high alert when "Dee's" story is not adding up. Deirdre "Dee" Lambert wakes up alone and scared in a motel that she doesn't remember being at. To make matters worse she doesn't remember a single thing about her self or her life. All she knows at first is she is wearing a necklace with the letter D on it. Dee makes a deal with Jacob to help out at the hotel until the severe winter storm passes. But she soon realizes that she has to have help in order to get some answers on whom or what is threatening her. Dee comes clean to Jacob and he enlists some of his military friends to help Dee remember. With their growing attraction to each other, neither will act on it till Dee knows more about her life. Falling for Dee was not part of Jacob's plan but as she remembers who she is and her life before she stumbled into his world he can't help himself. Dee's world was spinning out of control until Jacob came along. He gives her the strength she needs and he lets her shine. But before they can back a future for themselves they must solve who is trying to harm Dee. Out of Uniform captures everything I love about a Catherine Mann book, smart and sexy alpha men and strong capable women. Her characters feel like long lost friends every time you read one of her books.
