Open Hands: Rains in Ifurika - Book Six
Red Serenga has survived conquest, collapse, and the rule of people who believed order belonged in a single pair of hands. Now Neema faces a harder task: helping communities share roads, water, warnings, and protection without rebuilding the kind of power they fought to escape.
When messengers are murdered, public wells are seized, and forged orders send armed groups toward one another, fear begins moving faster than truth. Delegates from Moru, Nairoba, Kilima, Moshi, Arusha, and the western communities gather to build agreements strong enough to protect people who do not agree on who should lead them.
Neema refuses the permanent authority others want her to carry, but refusal cannot keep danger outside the room. As local watches, Wardens, merchants, record keepers, and settlement councils struggle to act together, every safeguard creates a new delay-and every shortcut risks becoming a claim of ownership.
Beside her, Omari confronts the private benefits hidden inside public roads, while Sena exposes promises made in the name of offices that do not yet exist. Tawi and Penda fight to preserve records, warnings, and practical limits even as enemies learn how to turn those protections into weapons.
Open Hands brings the Rains in Ifurika series to its culminating test: whether people can protect the one beside them without deciding that everyone beyond them must obey. It is a sweeping story of responsibility, grief, love, political courage, and the difficult work of building a future no single person can own.
