A beautiful, educational book

I found this to be a beautiful book. With prosaic yet colorful language Carol Carrick tells the fascinating, if not tragic, life story of an octopus as she struggles to survive for her unborn progeny; Don Carrick's earthy watercolors reflect the tone. This book is described as a 'Life Cycle Book', and it lives up to this designation (as do the Carricks' other life cycle books, "Sand Tiger Shark" and "Blue Lobster"), impassivley suggesting that death is a natural part of life. I see no reason why this book should be kept from young children. I'm sorry that it is no longer in print; I would buy a copy for my nephew.
