Good Light Fun

When Naka Kaburagi learns top model Umi Kajiwara's actually a boy who dresses like a girl for magazines, he hires her to keep her quiet. Naka thinks this is a good time to study Umi's smile, something that has attracted both men and women everywhere, as Naka's smile is horrifying. (It makes her look like a criminal. If you've read Wallflower, about as scary as the main character's "apearance".) This is a fairly typical romance, and is something we've all read before. I like it, but that's because sometimes i don't want a complicated plot. There are not very many twists and turns. The girl is another one of those "really pretty, but doesn't know her own potential really" types, and on top of it just tries to hard. It is decently cute, but not for everyone.

The story has been already exposed by the previous review, but I want to tell that the good parts come from vol02 onward^^ don't be uncoraged! try hard and read vol02! you'll find out it's not as simple as it appears to be =3 The manga-ka might have found out out about the fact she was able to continue the serie, and not leave it as ch01 or ch02 lenght! But it's understoodable: this is her first work, and she didn't expected to have success and have the possibilty to arrive to "50 chapters" and more^^ yes,...this serie is still ongoing on Hana to Yume =) so after having the confident of making a long story she start making the chapters with a sort of continuation, not like vol1, that was an "experimental volume to taste the ability of the new manga-ka". I waited so impatientally for this manga to come out can't wait for the vol2, that...even if I bought the raw manga in japanese, I still want to buy! so 5 stars for this! yeah!

I started reading the first few pages. Similar to Wallflower, the manga opens with 14 year old Naka Kaburagi being rejected by her crush. She is told bluntly that she looks too scary -- the boy goes on to gush about wanting a girl like Umi Kajiwara, a very popular cute model with a smile like a "flower." Unfortunately whenever Naka tries to smile, she looks like a wanted felon. Determined to learn how to smile like Umi and make the boy regret turning her down, she tries to break into modeling. At this point, already interested in the character and artwork, I told myself that if this "Umi" turned out to be a boy I was so buying this manga. Lo and behold, Umi bumps into Naka and drops some form of ID... which states her gender as male. Desperate to keep her quiet, he gets her a job as his modelling partner. Naka is torn to find out that the Umi is also the demonic pretty boy student body president at her school. It's almost scary how quickly he can go from cute and girly to his normal faceted self. I can't vouch for depth of plot yet or any such thing, but just the fun relationship between these two is enough to keep me turning pages. I ended up reading half of the book, though I didn't mean to since technically it was supposed to be considered a christmas present... I'll attempt to make myself wait for the rest ^_^; I encourage you to check out this title!
