Amusing

Stagecoaches were used most from about 1850 to 1890. This simple and amusing story with fun illustrations about a family's stagecoach ride is probably best geared for young elementary. This book would only take minutes to read to any age group, but could introduce more sophisticated math and social studies discussion about population.

Californ-y Here We Come!

Yaa -hoo! Mama, Baby Betsy and Amanda (the Narrator) and the two other kids are going to California to meet their papa. Mama has brought a bag of answers! Weird...right! A big buldging bag on a stagecoach...but that bag saves everybody's lives - thanks to Mama. This book is awesome.

Nine for California

This book is about Mama and her children, the sack and other people on their way to California. They have lots of hardships on their way to California like outlaws and a buffalo stampede. The answers to all of their problems were in the "sack". The main characters are Amanda and Mama. They finally get to Californ-y and meet Daddy.

A thrilling book for kids!!!!!

This book is geat for the whole family. The illitrations are fantastic and funny. It's about Pa who moved to California and sends a note to tell his familly to move to California. They take a stage coach from Missorii to California and it took 21 days to get there. There are funny people in this book. Ma in this book has a secret in the end so read the book to find out. Buy this book for the kids and it will make them smile so much that there smile will stay there. So buy this book right now!!!!!

Charming "tall tale" about a stagecoach ride out West.

Pa has gone to the gold fields of California with the "Forty-Niners". He sends for Ma and the children. This clever book tells how Ma uses her "bag" of tricks to ward off boredom, lack of comfort and real dangers in an overland stagecoach ride to California during the gold rush. The watercolor illustrations have a loveable cartoon quality which greatly enhances the story.
