Night Touch

The mysterious stranger called the marking on young Adam's left hand the Cross of Dark Fortune. Because of it, he gave Adam the night touch, and suddenly, the blind boy could see without seeing. But his gift demanded a horrible price--one that would have to be paid in evil, blood and death.

Decent Read

The story is mostly written from a15 year old perspective, which had me frustrated at first. Then the character began to grow as the story progressed. I enjoyed this one. Not as fast paced as Rockabye Baby but still worth a read. The relationship between friends is real and It took me back to adolescence.

He held evil in the palm of his hands!

Night Touch is the second novel I have read by Stephen Gresham (the other was Demon's Eye I read years ago!) and if all of his novels are of this quality the two I have read he's becoming my favorite horror author. Written in a 1st person point of view, Night Touch follows three friends whom have their world shaken upside down. Rob, Andrea and Adam have been friends for a long time and Adam has been "cursed" with blindness. The story really starts when Adam unveils he's been given a gift, a gift he calls the Night Touch. The Night Touch not only enables Adam to see things but he can also do some other special things with it. It's the other gifts that cause the problems for the friends and the town they live in.Gresham's first person narrative (written from Rob's point of view) really drives the personal connection home for the reader. It's not just a horror story and I felt a sort of sadness while reading it toward the 3 major characters. Gresham ends up putting them through a lot but he honestly never lets the narrative slip. The novel is tight and well written and very descriptive. It really shines in the darkness of other horror authors and I look forward to reading more of his work.

A GOOD READ

I'm the author of NIGHT TOUCH and think it's a good read, with some chilling moments and interesting characters. I'd like very much to hear from readers of this or any other of my books. I also write under "J.V. Lewton" and "John Newland". My e-mail is greshsl@mail.auburn.edu
