A really excellent and truly fresh approach to this important topic

Swami Abhayananda, author of many valuable books, has in Mysticism and Science served up for us such an exquisite blend of knowledge, wisdom, inspiration, and love from his clear head and deep heart, raising all the right questions, and bringing in excellent quotes from mystics and scientists to achieve his stated goal of a reconciliation of the two fields. He is to be especially commended for bringing real clarity as to the kind of TRUE religion--**mystical spirituality**--that is the much-needed partner in this discussion between the two camps of thinkers/practitioners--religionists and scientists. For too long the religious camp in this discussion has been represented by persons NOT authentically steeped in the best that our religious traditions can offer. Abhayananda succinctly and passionately offers a mature spiritual-religious perspective, informed by his own life-changing and quite profound gnostic-mystic revelation in his youth, that will enrich any reader of this book. An added, utterly delightful treat are Abhayananda's truly lovely poems that function as a kind of tasty "dessert" at the close of each chapter. More importantly, they underscore the deep feeling of wonder, reverence and gratitude that any contemplator of the cosmos and consciousness will surely experience when diving deeply into this subject (and Divine Subject). A must-read book!
An Essay on Mystical Science

I thought Swami Abhayananda's last book was excellent and was waiting eagerly to read this new one by him, particularly as it was in an area that I am also interested in. It is a brave attempt at sharing some personal reflections and there are some good sections and observations made by Abhayananda, but there are places where he does not bring in the detail that his last work had to offer. However, this is still a fine book with many poetic reflections by the author, supplemented with various quotations. In many ways this is more of an extensive essay than a book, but still nonetheless a worthwhile read in which Abhayananda shares some of his wisdom and mystical experiences.
