For six years Janet M. Stone was the primary caregiver of her parents and their home. She cannot recall another time in her life that filled her with such exhaustion and, ironically, such pure energy... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Janet Stone's book is a sensitive yet spirited love story candidly detailing the love, the loss, and the legacy of her adored parents. Remarkably passionate and perceptive, the author's personal recollections of her devoted parents final years and her own care-giving sacrifices present a powerful legacy for her own children and grandchildren. Few gifts compare with gifts of the heart. Janet Stone's book reveals that and much, much more.
An insightful account of a daughter's care giving journey.

"Any reader who has shared any of the experiences will find this story overwhelmingly poignant. There must be growing numbers of children dealing with the issue of incapacitated old parents who deserve dignified deaths. She has a very enlightening way of telling, "How it is!"

I loved this book....I just did not want to put it down. It is a very difficult subject turned into a love story between a husband andwife and a daughter and her parents. It is a very well written book in which the author speaks honestly from the heart. At times you are laughing, at other times you are crying, and feeling such compassion. A must read for every daughter and son with aging parents. I give this book an A+!

The reader will smile, laugh, cry, and then say, "Wow!" The author bares her soul to tell this story of her parents' last years. She found the strength and creativity to insure that their care was dignified, skilled, and loving. Telling this story with candor and honesty, the author causes the reader to see the humorous side of dealing with illness and Alzheimer's Disease, as well as the frustrating obstacles that one encounters. I found the book to be enlightening and uplifting, but what appealed to me the most was the author's never ending energy (although she must have been exhausted)and the creativity with which she dealt with the situation in which she found herself. If one has aging or ill parents, this is an important book. It will give the reader some new ideas, thoughts, and insights into "The Dying Process", and how it affects loved ones.
