My Muse

Coming back to it, I find that I can offer it, more or less as it had been left ten years ago. Whereas I had intended the Muse to show me the mysteries and deepest secrets of life, it has turned out that the Muse is herself the only interesting thing in it. There are some funny little parts of it which amuse me, but really, it serves for me as a prelude to my bigger poems, which I only came to write after the age of forty-five.
