A fabulous read - great character development

An interesting story line, great characters and character development. Because of such great attention to detail and research by the author, one feels that they really get to know the characters as well as understand them and their respective careers. This adds a real credibility to the novel and even though classified as fiction, one feels that there is actual factual information relayed. One feels that they really come to understand certain aspects of careers in the police force and the world of authors and creative people. I highly recommend this book to those who would normally be interested in fiction or even non fiction.

My Hero is true love without sappiness - great summer read

Unexpectedly fresh - believably real - incredibly romantic - Marianna Jameson doesn't waste words or use fillers - she keeps the reader on edge until the last page - fast paced and difficult to put down for a minute - finally a great love story that isn't sappy or gooey or over the edge with unrealistic sex scenes. Her "hero" is all male - in the best sense of the word - He's likeable, loveable, strong, smart and while he could - he doesn't exude that macho image you'd expect. Ever. Marianna Jameson has a winner - what a great debut novel!

Wonderful new novelist, great hero & heroine

Miranda Lane is on vacation in Connecticut. She has just turned in her latest manuscript to her Agent and Publisher. Unfortunately they don't like the book as much as she did and they want a "few changes" ok so changing the setting, the Hero from an Beta male to an Alpha male, oh yeah and change his profession seen to be more a "do-over" than a rewrite. So what does Miranda do, she goes to play paintball. She manages to take out 4 guys before they even know what hits them. Chas Casey can't believe that he was shot in the chest and never saw it coming. It rocks him more than the others as while this was paintball; it was how his father was killed. He is intrigued as well as annoyed to find out she is also his blind date a few nights later. Chas ends up helping Miranda learn about Police Operations as well as learning a lot about herself. Miranda is no pushover and in fact puts Chas in place on more than one occasion and bests his brother in about 30 seconds flat. Wonderful debut novel from Marianna and Penguin Publishing! I like many of the others reviewers want to know when Joe's book will be due out, and whatever the answer it is not soon enough. I say that after staying up past midnight (having to be at work by 7am) to finish the story, much to the grumblings of my hubby to "turn out that light"

Marianna Jameson has hit the mark.

This is an excellent book with well developed characters and a story that captures you from the very first page. I began reading and could not put it down. I can't wait for the next book from this author.
