More Than Survivors

I think this is an inspiring book to read for those helping someone who has managed to survive this kind of a horrible past as well as it is for the person who went actually went through it. I bought the book to give to a friend who deals with DID. But she was not ready to read it at this time in her own healing journey. Though the timing was not yet right for her, it really helped me to not give up hope while patiently continuing to work with her. It kept the light at the end of the very long difficult tunnel visible for me while continuing my supportive and therapeutic efforts. I applaud the author for writing a book about these incredible over-comers. And I have been personally inspired by the remarkable changes that resulted from the relentless efforts of such brave individuals who wanted to heal. There are currently a lot of books written on the subject but this one describes several individualized healing experiences in one book, in their own words. Its honest, realistic, compassionate and encouraging. And the author gives these individuals the respect that they deserve in print. I highly recommend this book if you need to develop true hope for your own healing journey or if you need positive supportive reading while counseling someone or loving a family member or friend who has DID and seems to be making slow progress. I am looking forward to his next book.

AWESOME Book that made us feel very special!

Oh I loved how the author expressed his appreciation of multiples and how we used dissociation to survive! Too often, especially in the Christian realm, MPD is referred to as a BAD thing and we often times have to hide who we became becuz of the abuse. But, the author of this book really encourages multiples and honors our hard work to survive and the creative talents we used to survive. It's an AWESOME book!! It was a book that made us feel really good about ourselves which is a good thing.

Hope Instead of Despair

I recently discovered that my 7 year old adopted daughter, who I knew for a long time was a survivor of satanic ritual abuse, is also experiencing "dissociative identity disorder". Suddenly when I read this book, I was no longer depressed about a lifetime of recovery. I was filled with encouragement, admiration, and hope. James Friesen is a wonderful writer, with an uplifting and easily read style. (His first book is also wonderful "Uncovering the Mysteries of MPD".) Thank you to the survivors in this book, who each tell their story, and how they deal with daily life as a "multiple". You are all MORE than "survivors".
