Good book, latest info

We used this book for a 2 week trip down baja last Dec. My main reason for selecting this book was that it was the latest of the 3 or so guidebooks available on the market so I figured the info will be more uptodate. Its a good book. there are still some inaccuracies on hotels & restaurants which I found frustrating since this should be easily fixable by fact checks. It covered too much ground i.e almost every town is covered. Would have been better to cover fewer with more info. We were a family with kids so better coverage for family oriented activities would be good. More cultural.historical background would've been nice. It is a good book and I would encourage folks to get this (at least until LP updates theirs :). Its certainly well worth the money on the trip.

Very thorough and well written guide

We traveled in Baja for two weeks using this guidebook almost exclusively and were extremely pleased with it. The hotel and restaurant reviews gave an excellent feel for the atmosphere of the locations and the authors did a great job of including attractions and activities for a variety of tastes. Their sample itineraries are also very helpful and we were never disappointed when we followed their recommendations for places to stay/eat and things to do. My only suggestion for improvement (as a family traveling with a small child) would be to include more child-oriented activities such as the La Paz Serpentarium. Overall, well worth the money!

excellent!!!!!

awesome guide book!!!! you can see that these people traveled around baja a lot!!!! highly recommended...

comprehensive but not selective

If you're spending 2 months driving down and up, this would be a great book. But Cummings doesn't provide much advice for the person who only has a week or so to spend in Baja and must pick and choose. Even after reading the whole book you don't get a sense for what are the nicest destinations. This is important because a lot of Baja destinations are popular for people with a passion for a particular activity and if you don't enjoy that activity you'll probably feel trapped there.Tip: If you must go to Cabo, avoid Cabo San Lucas and the Corridor and stay in San Jose del Cabo (a real Mexican town closer to the airport). Also rent the heaviest SUV that you can and drive the coast road (dirt) out to Los Frailes for snorkeling and camping on the beach (dogs are welcome).

A must have for any trip to Baja

This book is just great. It starts out with a good basic overview of the area. I used the book on a recent trip to La Paz. The maps are excellent and very easy to use. The prices are a bit off at times but still in the range. The hotels are broken down into price categories, that was very helpful. The book helped with getting around by bus and the restaurant sections gives good accurate descriptions. This book was just super. If your going to Baja, anywhere in Baja, get this book it is well worth the price.
