VERY mixed fare

I read short stories sometimes to sample writers I do not know, sometimes to hope for a gem from a favorite. Jill Barnett’s story is the latter - a small gem. Rather like Saving Grace, which is how I first discovered her work. And I will have to keep this book solely to keep this story. Sonia Simone’s story was next best, but rather simplistic. Not worth a second read. Enchanted made no sense to me - no story, bland characters. Ribbon of Moonlight also rather trite with shallow characterization. At least an attempt at humor, albeit slapstick. Poor editing, typos etc ( there are plenty) are not the authors’ fault, but a writer who uses the ‘word’ irregardless commits an unforgivable sin!

A real treasure

Elaine Coffman's "A Ribbon of Moonlight" stands alone. I don't know when I've laughed so much, or when i've been so charmed by such a delightful story. I was lucky enough to find this book at a used bookstore, and I've never stopped loving Elaine Coffman's books. My only disappointment was that this story wasn't longer. Wish she would rewrite it into a longer book. I'd buy it again!

Jill Barnett's entry makes this book worthwhile.

Jill Barnett has another winner on her hands. Her work is always top notch, and I am looking forward to her next book before I finish her lasts. The other storys were lackluster at best. The plots were murky and hard to follow. tate@nwgainternet.com
