I have found the IDG Visual books the best for someone totally new to computers and teaching themselves. Easy to read and understand. You see exactly how it appears on your screen. BRAVO!

Powerful, Artistic, the way of future learning

I often wondered why teaching Windows applications had to be so wordy. The entire idea of Windows is GUI. That is why Microsoft became the leader. That is why the whole world is now using computers. And yet, I see thousands of words printed to describe things that are graphical. GUI is the international language. If you want to study law, read thousands of words. If you want to study Office 2000, buy this wonderful book. What a beautiful surprise. Bravo!!... By the way, I know about technical braindumps. I am a Microsoft Cetified Systems Engineer.

Fantastic - Simple, clear and inviting

The bold graphics and color on every page make this a book that draws you in and along. I just bought Office 2000 and decided it was time to brush up on my skills (and learn Outlook). I use Word every day but decided to read through that section for the finer points. It was fast and easy to skim through the stuff I knew and pick up tips (like three clicks highlights the whole paragraph). This would be an especially great book for someone just beginning with computers because a GOOD picture is worth a thousand words and this book has lots of GREAT pictures.

For "visual" learners and everyone else!

maranGraphics has done a wonderful job presenting MS Office 2000 in easy to understand graphics and words. In some cases, the pictures give a more complete understanding of the steps being explained than the words do! I generally do not like visually oriented manuals, because I find them too simplistic, and half the book is information I already understand. However, with this book, I learned several things from the very first lesson. I was quite familiar with MS Word 6.0, but don't let anyone tell you that you don't need training if you know MS Word 6.0; Microsoft has moved things around and changed how you work with Word. MaranGraphics' book on MS Word 2000 is just as useful as this one.
