If only I could give it ten stars!!

I read this book by myself while my daughter was in school today. It was the best children's book I ever read. I love that Meghan Rose looks to God for help and guidance. I can't wait for my daughter to come home from school so we can read it together! Lori Scott, if you are reading these reviews, please keep writing these books. From now on, one of your books will be with every birthday gift my daughter gives.

A dozen roses for Meghan Rose

If authors received roses for book awards Lori Z. Scott should get a dozen long stemmed ones for her incredibly warm and endearing Meghan Rose On Stage! Lori's book (the first in a series) has a target audience of first and second graders, although children a little older or younger will enjoy it as well. In this story Meghan has a problem, her class is going to have a talent contest, but Meghan doesn't know if she has any talents she can share. She can't sing (at least not very well), and she can't play the piano, like Lynette can. And her friends told her showing her "bottle cap collection" doesn't count. What's a girl to do? She is good at telling jokes, well, at least the one "knock knock" joke she knows - but that's not enough for the contest. She isn't good at dribbling basketballs, like Ryan Baker. She can't even blow bubbles. Well, the rest of the story shows how Meghan goes about discovering her God given "talent." She is so "honeybee sweet" and "kangaroo bouncy" that she should win the hearts of all her readers, yong and old alike.

I love reading. Even as a little girl, I loved to read. Now as a mom, I am always looking for great books I can get for my children to instill in them the same love for reading that I have. That's why I was so excited to discover the Meghan Rose series of books. It's a new series by first time author Lori Z. Scott. A mom herself, and former elementary school teacher, Lori has a knack for writing for kids, and making the stories fun, interesting, always with a Biblical foundation. The Meghan Rose series kicks off with Meghan Rose On Stage. Meghan Rose wants to take part in the school talent show, but she can't sing or dance or even burp very well. Will her braggy classmate Lynette steal the show? Or will Meghan discover her true, God given talent before it's too late? This story is a perfect way to talk to your kids about their own God gifted talents, and how we are each created uniquely. The stories are fun. The characters are true to life, and you will have as much fun as your children reading these wonderful books. They are written for kids ages 4-8 years old, but can even be read to preschooler as bedtime stories by you. And, hold onto your hat - the best part is that at the end of each book is a section with discussion questions and fun activities and crafts you can do with your children. I LOVE this! Great Read - Meet Meghan Rose!

Note: this review is written by my granddaughter, almost 11 years of age: "I was at my grandma's house, when Mom called and said she had the first book of the Meghan Rose series. I felt extra 'kangaroo bouncy.' I have read it three times since, and it hasn't even been a week! This is a great book series for younger kids with a twist of fun, humor, and the life of a first-grade Christian girl. Mrs. Scott does a great job of describing Meghan and her friends. Mr. Curtis draws really neat pictures that I don't think I could ever draw in my life! In short, YOU'VE GOT TO READ THIS!!!"

Book Makes a Hit with Grandchildren!

I read "Meghan Rose on Stage" to my granddaughters who are five and seven years old. My granddaughter's were so enthralled with the story we had to read the whole chap book in one sitting. When we would come to the "really, really cool" (as my seven year old granddaughter phrased it) illustrations by Stacy Curtis, they would peer over the pages inspecting each character and chat about what was going on. The book was definitely a hit and they could hardly wait to make a red volcano that Scott suggests along with other activities in the back of the book. We took the creative play experience outside and I was so glad we did because the volcano did erupt. The children squealed and howled as they watched their project in action. Another thing that made this book so special was the "Chatter Matters" discussion questions in the back of the book. One granddaughter chatted about how cool it was to know Meghan prayed when she did not know what to do next. The other granddaughter discussed that it does not matter who you are anyone can share their talent! Sharing with others makes everyone happy. Now they have a "really cool" memory about a girl named Meghan Rose, while on one of Grandma's play dates and a new phrase definition, "bouncy kangaroo," which they practiced all over my living room. A great adventure story with "bam" (as my five year phrased it) for elementary age children and of course, this Grandma enjoyed the book too. Thank you so much for a fun read!
