easy read - many of his profitable ad examples with explanations

Melvin has had decades of experience, and sold millions of books. So he's worth listening to. His methods are simple, cheap and easy to put to work. The book is easy to understand, without any wasted words. He just lays out a step by step plan on how to start advertising successfully in classified ads. Without wasting money. He explains how to write a classified ad that gets results. But he doesn't go into detail about how to write the follow up letter you send to people responding to the ad. But he tells you enough to get a basic job done. And gives successful examples to learn from. In the book he recommends Victor Schwab's "How to write a good advertisement" for learning how to write ads well. This book more focuses on the process of running classified ads, where to place them, what to offer in the ad, and how to do the follow up. Plus organizational details on running a classified ad driven business. Recommended.

I just couldn't put it down...

Rarely have I found a book that I just pick up and can't put down. But this book is one. I bought this along with 2 other books yesterday at a seminar that I spoke at and scanned through them all. This book caught my attention. I started reading it on the plane ride back home and had it finished by the time I landed. I was so impressed - I emailed Melivn to see if he is open to chat on the phone for 1 hour consultation. I'd be willing to pay him what ever he wants for that short period of time. How to Get Rich in Mail Order by Melvin Powers

Melvin Powers is one of the old pros. I dare say that everyone in the business that you see on the TV Infomercials, got their original info from Mel Powers. The gent was long in the business, out of a squat little office in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA in the late 1970s when I began in the marketing and sales business. Over the years, I have purchased probably 20 of copies of this book. I keep loaning them out, and they never come home ! The book has the actual copies of very successful newsprint ads and therefore you can use these actual copies of successful ads to write your own. Everyone speaks about the internet for selling, but hands down, nothing beats newsprint ads if the product is appealing to the public.

I would give it 9 stars if I could! Melvin is wonderful!

Melvin Powers is a legend! All of his books are great, especially this one! It has "real" techniques that work!
