Subtly poignant and superbly written love stories

As with the author's two other books, `Dreams of the Woman Who Loved Sex' & `Courting Pleasure', the writing is a delight to read and rich in depth. You can almost feel the author's reaching out to the reader to share in the joy of the stories. Don't let the number of pages fool you, this book is packed with more pleasurable reading than books three times the size. The opening paragraphs are so lyrical that you enjoy reading them again and again. Several of the twenty stories are set in the outdoors with the beauty lovingly depicted. Each story is a delight and completely different in scope, setting and characters to make them individual and memorable, and yet beautifully woven together that each one seems to flow into the next. By the last story you feel you have been given small jewels by the author that can be savoured through the years. Each story gives the reader a different feeling, `The Good Salt Air' fills all the senses, `Afterglow' is warm, `Tucson in September' amazingly rich, `The Storm Raged' sensual, `Spring Blossoms' earthy, `Ginny's Defense' scary, `Touched by Light' & `Jennifer's Song' poignant, `Fast Cars and Fast Women' happy, `A Nourishing Affair' funny, `The Long Mirror' & `River Trio' `The Island with the Tall Trees' hopeful, and `The Van' sexy. Throughout many of the stories the humor is joyful with several laugh out loud moments. As an added treat the author included the most interesting and readable introduction in any anthology I have ever read - do not skip over it or you will have really missed out. This is a Keeper.
