What is it that compels a man to leave his country and the life he knew and travel to a war-torn world? Why does a man trade a comfortable lifestyle for danger? Why would a man risk his life to embark on a cause of freedom? These are questions that have haunted me from the very moment I learned about such men. And as utterly amazing as life and fate can be, how rare is it to actually communicate with such a man?
Meet Commander of Special Forces, US Army Colonel Scott Williams, who currently leads and trains a battalion of Ukrainian volunteer soldiers in the harsh and horrendously cruel war front of Ukraine. Now. all at once, what before was a mysterious initial and immediate internal wonder at learning of Americans answering such a far-off call for help miraculously turned into actual communication with, of all people, a Commander Each day, he tirelessly, with valor, dedication, and perseverance, leads his men forward. And now, once again, I ask myself-why would a man do this? The answer is simple- Love
Therefore, it is only natural that these poems, depicting love in all of its courage and complexities, be dedicated to such a man. Some may toss flowers to such heroes were Colonel Williams to be honored in a parade, such as what our country was wont to do in times past. I shall toss my Poems to him instead. I will dedicate this book to him. I hope there are millions more like him in the world.
