Full Disclosure: I know the author. I also live on Long Island and am a sucker for stories that take place here. That said: This is a fabulous first novel - like one of the other reviewers, I found it difficult to put down, a real good book to take on vacation. The story is compelling, well constructed and readable. It makes you think. The character development is particularly first rate, and very disturbing. Read it - you won't be disappointed. I hope we hear more from Monica Gold in the future.
Fascinating Reading

I found this book difficult to put down. When I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it. The writing is beautiful, almost dreamlike in many ways. Although the real and the imagined are woven together, it is never difficult to tell one from the other. Not only is it a fascinating story of both solid and twisted characters, but also rich with historical references and their effects on the minds of the characters. Highly recommended!
