Travel through each phase of a child's journey to adulthood. Growing up in Baltimore City, the little girl, a mistake, as her mother points out often, longs to be as cherished as her siblings by her... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Donna Middlestadt has written the kind of book you just can't put down. From the opening page where we are immediately introduced to the main character, Lucy, and the harsh treatment she receives at the hands of the family who should love and protect her, we're drawn into the upside-down world of a neglected little girl who only wants to be loved. Not content with letting us cheer from the sidelines, Ms. Middlestadt pulls us page by page into the miserable quagmire from which Lucy endeavors to escape. Our hearts ache for her, as we hope against hope that her atrociously selfish mother will one day come to her senses. We cry for her as she discovers the inevitable consequences of "looking for love in all the wrong places": experimenting with drugs, sexual abuse, an early but doomed marriage. "Just one more chapter," I told my kids. ("Don't you have to go to work in the morning, Mom?") But I had to make sure Lucy was going to be safe and that she would learn the truth about Life: Happiness is not found outside of yourself; no one else can make you happy. And there, Ms. Middlestadt doesn't disappoint her readers. It's a sad, little, feel-good-in-the-end page-turner that deserves to be read and re-read. "Little Miss No Name?" To paraphrase Puccini: I know her name, and her name is "Love."

"Little Miss No Name" touched my heart to the very core. Ms. Middlestadt tells the story of this child-teen-adult and the many struggles she must live with. I.E. Child abuse,Neglect,Unacceptance within her own family unit. Though the book is a sad look at what actually occurs in reality, it does well to teach us the reader what it is like to live through the ordeals that Lucy has. All she has ever required of herself was love and someone to accept her. What she finds is that she must look within herself to find her own power. She then is able to find the love she has needed. I shed tears for this forgotton child. The courage and determination spills forth in this remarkable book, and I found myself unable to put the book down. I needed- No," I HAD" to know everything that Lucy was thinking and feeling. This is a highly recommended read!!

No name...but unforgettable...

It's a harsh reality that so many people grow up feeling unloved and unwanted...it is a bright beacon of hope that anyone growing up like this can move beyond those early devastating realities...and Author Donna Middlestadt is a beacon of hope in the world of writing to be able to pen an amazing saga of a girl feeling like the "Little Miss No Name" doll and her triumph over the life of abuse and neglect that was endured. Middlestadt admits the novel was inspired by her own story and fictionalized to help others who have felt unloved and unwanted. THREE cheers for the writing and the courage to share what must have been a painful examination of early disappointment.
