Wonderful read - could not put it down until the last page

I loved this novel. I was greatly moved by Philippa, she was completely believable to me. I've read the book twice - the most powerful scene for me was in the last few pages. The last sentence was perfect. I thought about the two main characters for days and I love to imagine what the years ahead held for them. from the publishers web site - Philippa, returning by ship from a European vacation to her post in a women's college, finds her life unexpectedly changed by the woman who shares her cabin, whose career as an entertainer contrasts vividly with her own. This novel was the first publication of the Naiad Press.
