not your typical regency in some ways, still great though...

this was my first Zabrina Faire-I'm now looking for her other books. The author has a good writing style. This particular book was great. The premise was very unusual-the heroine loses her position as governess when her charge (an absolute brat) dumped a inkwell over her flaxen blonde hair, and she (rightfully so), slaps him. There entails a high spirited fun, dramatic, sad and romantic fast paced story-full of highjinks, circuses, ghost stories, magic and terrible villans. Some will find parts of the story far fetched for the time (for example-the two without a chaperon at some points-but that is dealt with in the storyline) but is so enjoyable that those can be overlooked. The story, like most traditional regencies, has lots of romance but few love scences and NO explicit ones-so I recommend to those who are looking for a clean read. It has a few minor foibles that keep it from a five star book-but I would definately recommend it to those who love older regency romances are who are looking for a new regency author with talent. The icing on the cake is the gorgeous, and obviously researched cover by Walter Popp! 4.5 stars.
