Wild, Funny, Impossible, Like a Bruce Willis Movie

Living in San Diego, I'm interested in books, especially crime books, set in this city. I don't think jack Trolley knows squat about how the real San Diego police work, and are, but who cares? Donahoo is a Bruce Willis-cop type character, and indeed, this book reads more like a script for a Bruce Willis movie. Absurd and wild things ahppen, like a nutty action movie, and there are plenty of laughs, enough to let you know that Trolley isn't taking himself too seriously. There's some glimmers of good writing as well, and in many ways, Trolley's sty;le reminds me of Jermone Charyn's. I'll have to go read the other books as well, as this one was good enough to make me check out the rest of the series.
