The story of 'Kildemock' is set against the backdrop of Ireland in 1798, the year of the rebellion that saw Protestant Presbyterians and Roman Catholics unite against the British Crown in an attempt to gain some degree of control over their own future. It failed, and it has been estimated that up on 50,000 Irish perished. It tells the story of two friends in the aftermath of the rebellion, one on his deathbed while the other prepares his burial, and the mysterious appearance of a woman who appears to be eagerly awaiting the former's death. The tale is based on local myth from the Ardee area of County Louth, Ireland.
