A book I have been waiting for many years

For many years I have been waiting for this book 'Iran: Open Hearts In A Closed Land' It is a fair and balanced presentation of historical & current cultural, religious and government issues that face Iran. There is something special going on in Iran that is beyond the control of any political or religious leaders in this land. Why don't you buy this book and see for yourself!

A Wonderful, Concise History of a State and Nation

Mark Bradley has given a wonderful text concerning the spiritual state of Iran, however, this is more than just a book about missionary opportunity within a nation of people starved for options--it is a strong source of information concerning Iranian history. "Iran: Open Hearts in a Closed Land" gives reason for the recent openness to Christianity in the region by providing a concise but thorough history of Persian culture and Shi'a Islam. Indeed, this text should be a reference not only for the missions-minded, but for anyone--Christian, Muslim, Secular, etc.--who desires to expand his or her knowledge about both Iran as an Islamic state and as a nation of Persian people. This book is truly readable and an excellent jumping-off point for a study of Iran's history, government, and culture.

Insightful and Informative

Excellent! This book is well worth reading. In fact, for anyone who really wants to know the inside scoop on Iran today I would say that this is a must read. The author certainly displays a thorough knowledge of his subject, but he doesn't present it in a way that is pedantic or sensational. This book is very readable, something not always found in today's market. I have read the book twice already, and plan to read it again. It has been extremely helpful. A case in point: Just a few nights ago I was involved in a discussion regarding Iran and the Christian church there. The question was asked why so many Muslims are coming to Christ in Iran. I was able to give sound, well-grounded reasons based on what I had read in this book. Many thanks to Mark Bradley for this needed work.

Nuanced view of Christianity in Iran

`Open Hearts in a Closed Land' is an excellent book regarding current Christian mission in Iran in light of the backdrop of Iranian history. Many of the `Christian' books that are written about Iran these days differ little from a call to war. Often, a few sentences from Iranian political leaders are pulled out and a case for regime change is presented. This book does not fit this description. This educated book does not take a political position, but rather highlights how the people of Iran are open to the message of the Gospel while living, or even because of living, in what is often presented as a bed of radicalism. Those who receive their information about Iran from newspaper clippings and television sound bytes will appreciate this deeper and more nuanced view of the current landscape. These same people will be shocked by the discovery of information of the explosive growth of Iranian church- the light shining in the darkness. `Open Hearts in a Closed Land' is a necessary book that is capable of opening up closed Christian hearts in `open lands' to their emerging brothers and sisters in Iran. Hopefully, this book will inspire much prayer and work in the often misconstrued country of Iran. Those who are not concerned with Christianity in Iran will still benefit from the clear and concise recent history of Iran.
