Never give a trick-or-treater fruit.

1. It'll mess up their chances at good candy by giving them a curse, and 2. Because there's a good chance they'll try to poison you, cut you, and/or otherwise get back at you to break said curse. That is how I love Halloween began. Along with a psychopathic 5 year old-ish tooth fairy stealing her dead parents teeth-- excuse me, molars. Yes, this is one messed story, and I loved it! The whole vibe from the beginning was like watching a horror movie unfold page by page. Please note, this is not for the faint of heart nor for the squeamish, there is a lot of gore, psychotic children, head explosions, and (nothing explicit was shown, but) there is a older woman nicknamed "nips," I'll leave it up to your imagination as to what that means. A little bit of everything that makes a really good, or cringy, horror movie, but in book format. And I'll be honest, I liked it, but by the end a major twist happen and making everything make sense in a twisted way, earning an extra star, (upping it from 3 to 4 stars.) The art was cartoonish for a manga in my opinion, but it was also perfect, it added an extra layer of heebie-jeebies to the gore and horror making it all the more surreal. Was I weirded out by this manga? Yes, yes I was. Do I want to go on to read the next 2 volumes? Also yes, yes I do. I highly recommend this to any horror aficionado. Also if you like the online manga Pumpkin Night, I definitely recommend you check this series out.

Now in Color!!

The gang is all here and reliving their Halloween misadventures in full color! Even though I own the original 3 B & W volumes I had to get this when it came out. Not only do you get the stories in color but the pages are larger than manga-sized and it's hardcover. Even without the 10 page bonus story it's worth a double dip. I highly recommend this collection for those that really do love Halloween. It captures the things that, to me, make Halloween (the ritual of trick or treating, dressing up in costume, pranks) and mashes them soundly with those things you fear, or hope, would happen on Halloween night (zombies rising, alien invasion) along with some seriously twisted comedy.

Sick and Twisted

This was a great manga in stunning color which sets t apart from others. The story is unique and twisted and some may not really get what is going on or even why it's even going on. Buy if you want a different kind of manga experience and if you have the black and white issues you might want this.

Great!

I thought this book was so funny I almost wet my pants laughing. You defenately need to have an open-minded humor though, But if you laugh at sex jokes, strange ways of murder, and a little girl ripping peoples teeth out with pliars, then this book is for you

Something new.

This book really isn't given enough appreciation to end where it really excels. Many readers, going into this, are frankly in the wrong for carrying too many expections along with them. Here you will not find the familiar lodgings of a Slave Laboresque horror/humor mashing. While Lenore and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac present us with worlds that are, in essense, fantastic reinterpretations of our own, Benjamin Roman and Keith Giffen present the reader with a world governed by unfamiliar rules. Not provided with a safety net narration, the reader is thrust into a world which on the surface is similiar to ours, but underneath has jarring and facsinating differences that work with the story elements toward more and more unlikely scenarios. The narration told just enough to leave me pondering like a child over the laws that govern this fictional universe. It's a blast just to observe the goings-ons, read the off-beat exchanges between characters, and watch the overarching and glib plot unfold. The hints of supernatural twists in this volume are enough to drive me to the next one, which promises an elaboration of the only glimpsed at zombie theme.

Hilarious

Can't believe no one has reviewed this book yet. It's absolutely hilarious in a very demented sick way. If your humor runs to enjoying others pain and suffering, if you really wish to rule a zombie army, if you get off on paying no attention to other people then screwing them over, well .. aside from being on messed up freak .. you'll love this book. Not for the morally minded, there are various nipple appearances. But not for the fanboys either, the main female character is a rock weilding murderer still in toddler clothes. no need to go to tokyopop's website to preview the first chapters, just buy the book. deffinetly worth it.
