Excellent Book, with some cautions.

This is an excellent book and a great resource for those of us who are buying food in bulk, beefing up our food storage and generally learning to cook with food storage ingredients. Two notes that I didn't see in other reviews. 1. This is very much an LDS book in the very introduction. There is a whole section in the front of the book about having a Family Home Evening, for example. There is an assumption that you will agree or be saving food storage and learning to use it because you are LDS. This is a small portion of the book but if you are not LDS and are not interested in this, it might help to know about it. 2. This book is heavy on the dried milk, dried eggs, and similar ingredients. It barely, if at all covers things like cornmeal, whole wheat flour, and other ingredients that are a bit more difficult to cook with/grind etc. Those two items were not an issue for me. However, my friend who is not LDS but has much in the way of survivalism, food storage type items found this book was a little light in some areas. If you already cook with food storage, this is probably a little bit simple for you. If you are looking for a good all around beginning book for the basics of cooking with dried milk and other easy to find food storage items, this is a good book.

Donna's Review

So much great information and also helps one to use the information in everyday recipes. A lot of thought went into this book and you not only get a wonderful cookbook, you also get ideas to save $$$$$ on buying and the use of one's food storage. Easy recipes and full of good nutrition. Good job! We are giving this book as a Christmas gift to family members.

Best wheat bread ever tasted

I tried Chrystal's ez wheat bread recipe. It has been a hit in our home. We have enjoyed it so much we will not be purchasing bread at the store. We also liked her snickerdoodles made with whole wheat. Great Ideas to use food storage eveyday!

Excellent Information!!

Crystal's book is a new take on using food storage items. I like her introduction in the book and the FHE lessons to get your family involved. I also like that she not only gives you some delicious recipes, but that she teaches you how to adapt your own recipes using food storage items. I have already made a handful of recipes from her book and they are all very delicious! My family loved them too AND they couldn't tell that I used powdered milk or powdered eggs!! This book is great!! I am glad I purchased the book.

Food storage...Yeah!

Crystal has brought such insight and excitement to getting and using food storage! Her book is informative and makes the goal much easier and fun to reach. Having her book is like have her site a your fingertips even without a laptop!
