Years after a virus brought civilization to its knees, the few who remain have learned how to survive.
Hidden deep in the mountains of Northern California, nearly a thousand survivors have built something almost unheard of in the new world: a home. Protected from the infected and the violent scavengers roaming the wasteland, the camp has known relative peace for years.
But peace never lasts.
When a routine patrol encounters freshly infected dead where none should exist, the Hunters know something is wrong. Then smoke rises from the direction of home.
The Captain and his team race back to find everything they fought to protect destroyed. With little left but their weapons, and each other, they set out after those responsible. Their pursuit will carry them through the ruins of San Francisco, into the path of massive hordes of infected, and across a wasteland where the living may be even more dangerous than the dead.
They were trained to search.
They were trained to rescue.
And when necessary, they were trained to kill.
Now they have nothing left to lose.
