Human Resource Management may be viewed as a subsystem of organisations. HRM is concerned with the acquisition, placement, maintenance, development and exit of the human resources of an organisation. It is executed through the mechanisms of recruitment, selection, compensation, performance appraisal, career planning, and training and development of personnel. In the modern era, it is now being increasingly realised that people v/orking in organisations are human beings, that they have their own needs, motivations and expectations, and that their contribution to the organisation is much more than that of any other resources being used. No organisation can be run successfully unless the human resource is managed well. The proficiency of the human factor in accomplishing things can be improved and thereby organisational excellence can be achieved.
