Love it

I love all of the Hot Gimmick books. I can't wait till they come out on dvds

The End I Expected. . .

******EXTREME SPOILER ALERT****** After reading the entire series of HG in the span of about 4 days, I have to say that Hatsumi finally made a smart decision! I read A LOT of reviews complaining about the fact that she chose Ryoki over Shinogu and Asuza. But come on! Sure Shinogu was a big sweetheart and he would never hurt her and blah blah blah, but nobody put themselves in Hatsumi's shoes! He's her brother!! Adopted or not, Hatsumi will always view Shinogu as her brother and being with him would always be like incest to her. Don't get me started on Asuza either!! Anyone who wanted Hatsumi to end up with Asuza needs to go back and read the first couple volumes, you know, the ones where he was trying to get revenge on Mr. Narita through her? What kind of person would want her to be with him?!?! I, for one was rooting for Ryoki the whole time, he's obviously cared about her, he just had a hard time showing it the right way. In my opinion, Hot Gimmick is a story about being true to your heart, it shows that sometimes you fall in love and no matter how hard you try to fight it, you know the person that is right for you. Anybody who didn't get that message has never been in love with someone who was Forbidden. The Verdict: Get a life, fall in love and THEN read HG. A+

Good but disappointing ending!!

I just got the final volume of Hot Gimmick today and I finished reading it just a little while ago and I can say that the ending was not up to my expectation. I was rooting for Shinogu but it did not go the way I wanted it to be. I always thought that Hatsumi is better off with her adopted brother, Shinogu but instead she ended up with her jerk boyfriend, Ryoki. It would have been nice if she ended up with Azusa instead of Ryoki too but Shinogu was my favorite character and he is the most handsome of the three guys. I am a bit sad because Hot Gimmick has come to an end but I am still looking forward to Hot Gimmick S, where the ending is totally different. I want to read more of Miki Aihara's work. I already read Tokyo Boys and Girls but Hot Gimmick is the best and my most favorite. Please release for us more of Aihara's books in English.

A GOOD ENDING!

I bought this manga at Uwjimaya in English! They apparently sell the books before the official release date! Which is great! Hatsumi has to chose between her brother, Shinogu, her old childhood friend, OR her off and on JERK boyfriend. The ending may be a disappointment to some readers depending on who they were rooting for! But don't fret! If you don't like the ending you can always check out Hot Gimmick S, an alternate ending! It will be available Feb. 2007!

Enslave thy neighbor....part 10.

It's the weekend of Ryoki's practice exams and the furthest thing from his mind are his test score. All in the complex are on edge, especially Hatsumi and her family. Now that Shinogu has announced that he is severing ties with the Narita family it has caused all sorts of unrest within Hatsumi's troubled heart. She decides to go to him to demand that he return to the family but decides to stop and see Ryoki for support. He, being the most dense person on the face of the planet, mistakes her reasons for visiting him and naturally jumps to the assumption that she just wants to be with him, not that she might actually need some TLC. On an impulse he decides to run away with her and takes her to his father's suite in Izu. This causes all sorts of grief within the apartment complex as Mrs. Tachibana goes on a tirade to Hatsumi's family, insisting that it is Hatsumi that is corrupting the morals of her angelic son. An argument ensues but is brought to a crashing halt when none other than Mr. Tachibana shows up in the chaotic midst. When he admits to his part of the "affair" between Mr. Narita and Mrs. Odagiri all hell breaks loose, and Shinogu decides he must go and retrieve Ryoki and Hatsumi... but arrives too late... see, Ryoki has also told Hatsumi about the truth of the sordid "affair", and the news proves too much for her to take, so much so that in her anguish she breaks up with Ryoki (who was demanding that she choose between him and her family, perhaps this was not the best time to be offering such ultimatums, but hey, nobody said the boy was a genius... oh wait...) Grrr, the most annoying thing about this manga is that it takes too long to arrive in the stores! Now I get lucky because I work in a book store as the store's manga person, so I get access to books before they get out on the shelves, but it's not soon enough. This storyline is simply wonderful, the drama still leaves me enrapt, and the pathos that poor Hatsumi has to endure simply because she has a difficult time standing up for herself and making up her mind is nothing short of gut wrenching. I can't wait for the next volume to find it's way to my shelves... I just hope it gets released soon, I am dying to see what happened, especially since the end of this one winds up on a pretty high note between Shinogu and Hatsumi... but I give away too much, you'll have to read it for yourself.
