a very sweet love story

Please know that I'm not reviewing the Kindle edition of this book, but rather the paperback edition. Having said that, I very much enjoyed this book. I was engaged the whole way through, the reason for this being that I could so easily relate to Grace. Granted, there is much good to say about Amir as well, but this book focuses much more about how Grace feels about the unrequited, deep love she feels for her supervisor, a richer-than-God Sheikh who splits his time between New York City and his middle eastern homeland. Her reluctance to just bare her heart is perfectly understandable. It's easy to see why she feels the way she does. What I enjoyed most about this book was the "little things" that the author used to convey Grace's deep feelings for Amir. For example, in one scene, they are flying across the Atlantic (in Amir's private jet, of course) and they both fall asleep. Grace awakens before Amir, and finds that, while still asleep, she'd snuggled her way into his arms. I know that the above doesn't sound like much, but it is so well-written I'm sure it will stay with me for a long time. I was right there with Grace, very much in her shoes, knowing what she knew and feeling what she felt. Kudos to the author!! To say a few words about Amir, he was certainly very ALPHA, but not mean or cruel (as can be the case sometimes with these books). So sure of himself, so take-charge, so convinced that he's right about everything ... and yet with some very human feelings that any woman could find herself relating to. Again, kudos to the author for bringing us not only into Grace's heart, but for also giving us a way to relate to Amir as well. Well, if you can't tell by now, I really enjoyed this book! I will be seeking out more books by Lucy Monroe in the future! Ms. Monroe, if you are reading this, I think you did a wonderful job writing this book. Please accept my heartfelt thanks. This is a keeper, and I'm sure I'll find myself reading this book a second time, in my bubble-bath, sometime in the not-too-distant future!

Wow, it's rare that I find one of these little Harlequin books that's any good. They're usually too short to get into any good character development and the writing always seems to be sub-par. This one was great! The writing was good and I really was into the characters and their personalities. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was so good that I will look up more books by Lucy Monroe.

Pretty good...

I generally like Ms. Monroe's work so this book was no exception. She isn't into the hot and steamy love scenes and generally leaves them until the end. So no surprise with this one. I will not summarize the plot as that has already been done wonderfully. I will say that Ms. Monroe is one of the better Harlequin romance authors and this book shows. I enjoyed reading about Grace and Amir. Their friendship, love, and respect for each other shines through the pages. I enjoyed reading their story and the "risk" that they finally took to expose his/her love to the other. Sweet story. Certainly recommended.

Another gem

Hired: The Sheikh's Secretary Mistress by Lucy Monroe is a delightful story in her Royal Bride series. Grace Brown has been the personal assistant to Sheikh Amir Bin Faraq al Zorha for five years now. She has enjoyed the fast paced work and the world Amir lives in. But her growing attraction to him is causing her undo stress. Amir's family is tired of his playboy ways and wants him to find a bride to marry. He enlists Grace to make a list of suitable woman to marry. Amir has had a soft spot in his heart for Grace. She always kept his business life in order. Grace takes no grief from him and Amir finds this refreshing. With this talk of marriage he finds himself looking at Grace in a whole new light. Amir whisks Grace away to a weekend in the desert and Boss and employee are no more. Grace thinks Amir is still looking for a bride when they return and this crushes her heart. Can Amir convince her that he has found the woman he wants in Grace? Lucy Monroe's Hired: The Sheikh's Secretary Mistress is a delicious story of unrequited love. I enjoyed how Grace and Amir realize what they were looking for was right under their noses. Lucy Monroe's books are the first books I look for when I want something to calm my soul.
