For anyone curious about myofascial release, its benefits and applications for health and healing,this book is a marvelous start for what can be an extraordinary journey. John Barnes' insights and wisdom are a "well" from which every health professional should "drink." More than technique

This book beautifully pulls together the true essence of what Myofascial Release is: more than just techniques. Full of intriguing and interesting stories from the author and many of the therapists from around the would, which John Barnes has trained himself.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever found themself in pain (physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.)The illistrations are remarkable too.Truely an experiencial book!

The Master

I have taken several courses with John Barnes and will be taking many more. He is a gifted lecturer, teacher, guide and a master of a healing touch he calls Myofascial Release. This technique reaches into the cellular level of body, mind and spirit in a way that promotes, as the title of his beautifully written and illustrated book says "Healing Ancient Wounds". The book is written for patients and professionals and is filled with wonderful stories and anecdotes that will make you want to run to your nearest Myofascial Therapist or course offered by John F. Barnes.

A book that feels like a seminar

If you have ever attended one of John's seminars, this will be a welcome addition to remind you of all the stories and various sayings that John uses. After I read it the first time, I felt like I had just been to a seminar, which is a great feeling.Reading the book helped to remind me of the important principles that are needed to do the myofascial work well. The book is also a great way for clients to better understand the work.The book is very readable for therapist as well as patient. It also provides a history of the work and its development on both a historical basis and how intuition played a large part in the formation of the various techniques used. It also serves as a frequently asked questions list by addressing common questions both therapists and patients have about the method.This book is not a technical manual, but a philisophical and a historical look at myofascial release and how it blends emotional, psychological, nutritional, and structural components into a very unique healing method.I enjoyed it very much and will be reading it through again as a reminder when needed.
