Excellent!!

It was only supposed to be part of a routine ride along, an opportunity to improve relations between the police department and social services. Instead, Officer Dallas Brooks and social worker Kira Matthews find themselves at the home of a domestic dispute where things are much worse than they appear. What happens when Kira gets caught in the crossfire? Kira and Dallas will have to work together in order to protect two children as well as a whole town from the consequences of drug dealing. I usually avoid books with social workers and probably would have skipped this one if I hadn't bought all of the January 2008 Love Inspired Suspense books. However, having said that, let me say that GUARDIAN OF JUSTICE truly highlights some of the dangers social workers face on a daily basis. Through the eyes of Kira, readers get a glimpse of just how unappreciated the profession of a social worker really is. As a social worker myself, I would know. We walk into homes, unescorted and alone, without any advance knowledge of what goes on behind those doors. We take chances for usually such a pittance of a salary that others look askance at us as to why we bother. GUARDIAN OF JUSTICE reminds me of why we do "bother". Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is also discussed very sensitively in GUARDIAN OF JUSTICE. Dallas and Kira have very different experiences, but the effects are the same regardless. PTSD is often associated with war veterans and it was good to see an author tackle this issue in a setting that readers can relate to. Thank you, Carol Steward, for putting the profession of social work in such a true to life context, while writing one fantastic book! GUARDIAN OF JUSTICE provides a glimpse of life on the front lines of social services while also showing the value of faith. This was my first time ever reading a book by Carol Steward but I will certainly be reading more from her! COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES
