These nine short stories take place in the inner recesses of the Grand Canyon and are 'bittersweet' in that they explore the true inner thoughts, feelings, drives, motivations and outcomes of diverse individuals challenging themselves for highly personal reasons, which become clear in the course of each narration. They include a deluded young man in an endgame, a young woman riding a mule to discovery, an old man plumbing his depths, the self-exile of a big lonely woman, young adults floating to awareness, a housewife in midlife change, a marital couple in serious trouble, a cop keeping a promise, and an elderly woman questing. All with a purpose and some bittersweet experiences.
