Both volumes together offer information about over 270 deities of the Germanic peoples, presented alphabetically. It covers the time from the Roman Era until the Viking Age. After a longer background introduction the deities from Abiamara until Jarnsaxe are discussed. The scientific information is accompanied with many new myths and a rich amount of illustrations. The term 'myths' is used in its widest sense: here, stories are meant with a historical 'touch' in which is shown how in ancient times people possibly could have experienced their deities in allday life. All together it presents a much more vivid presentation than solely dry scholarly information could offer. This volume contains 328 pages with 105 illustrations in black/white (graytones).
