midwest farm experience

If you ever wondered what it was like to live on a midwestern farm in the early 1900s, this is for you. If you grew up on a farm and want to relive some of those happier moments, this book is a must. God's Green Liniment is a vivid recounting of a young girl's battle with polio, her family's love and their faith in God. Alice will draw you into her struggle and joys as a Swedish-immigrant farm girl in Illinois. You'll feel, smell, and taste the tears, joys and pleasures of her life experiences. While geared toward a preteen audience, my mother enjoyed reading this book and recalling her own childhood on a farm.

Delightful story, compelling storytelling

This story of childhood, family love, farm life in early-20th-century America, and unfailing faith despite hardships and illness reminds us that beauty and truth are in the simple details. Alice, a young girl stricken with polio, conquers pain, embarrassment, and the loss of dreams through the love and faith of her family. If you enjoy the Little House books, you will love this book--it provides an authentic glimpse into the past with a relevant message for the present. I only wish there were a sequel to this book!
