I love being stabbed one million times in the chest

One of my favorite books ever written. Hilarious and gut wrenching and gay. Great for lesbians with issues of all kinds. The butch rep that we all deserve. The lore is deep and confounding but I swear it’s part of the fun. Upon finishing it I cried so hard I almost threw up and then went through every stage of grief in the span of two days. And then I went and bought the sequel.

My new fav series

I had an affinity for ghosty-stuff as a kid and this brought me back to some of the books that I fell in love with as a kid- The Summoning, the Percy Jackson series, but made into a space-opera-adjacent queer story with a lot of skeletons

Tonal whiplash and an insufferable protagonist

The book reads like poorly written fanfiction, where the protagonist serves as the author's stand-in character. The characters share the same overall tone, except for the protagonist, Gideon, who sounds like a modern teenager referencing memes instead of talking and always looking to get the last word in as a zinger. The relationship between Harrow and Gideon was interesting and funny for the first few moments they shared, but they quickly became annoying. We get it. You both hate each other. Can we move on to more important topics? The overall plot was interesting but ultimately not worth struggling to read through.

I can't say enough

Enjoy queer gothic stories based in the future but set somehow in a very past-like environment? Gideon the Ninth is the story of a woman born into servitude, the deal she makes for freedom, and the murder mystery in a old gothic manor it takes her on.

The most immersed I've been in years.

Tamsyn Muir is a gifted author for sure. The Locked Tomb series is easily a heart favorite of mine. The story telling just ropes you in.

One Flesh, One End B*tch!

Tamsyn Muir is a word adept. This book has anything you could want from a novel. Sarcastic humor, witty retorts, mystery, suspicion, murder, all set in a slowly crumbling interstellar empire. Within the ruins of a deliciously detailed gothic castle our heroines fight to solve a myriad of juicy mysteries. It is enormously funny, Intriguing and utterly soul crushing. A story that will rip your heart still beating from your chest but leave you craving more.

The best action movie ever!

This book is like a blockbuster action movie. Only better than any actual movie. I don't feel like it's quite on the same level of similar books like Cute Mutants. But was definitely worth the time and money I spent on it. Totally reading the sequel!

Anyone know how to apply to be a lesbian necromancer?

The style of writing. It. Is. Perfect. I can’t express how much this witty banter style of writing makes me feel! It’s clever, gory, space-monstery, and gay what the hell else could you want? Already read the second one and now waiting for the third. Muir is on the gold list of favorite authors for the rest of my life.

Queer necromancers in space,, what more do you need from a book?

The dialogue was witty, the enemies to lovers trope was fantastically done, it was funny and heartwrenching and i cant wait for the second
