Great Read for Married Couples

This was a great read! My husband and I chose to read this together and it inspired a lot of interesting conversations. We wait for the next great book from Derek Maul...perhaps...The Spiritual Journey of Couples!

Very informative and helpful. A must for any men's group.

Derek's down to earth discussion about men's issues and our need to be part of a community of men is right on. Derek explains why God never intended any of us to walk the Christian life by ourselves. There is strength in numbers. We need to be open and honest with each other about our struggles. This eliminates the feeling that we are alone, that no one else is dealing with the issues that we are. It also gives the other men in the group the opportunity to pray for each other. The workbook is a great tool for those who want to start a men's group. Derek gives step by step directions on how to use the book and guide the discussion for the week. He even has a prayer written out at the end of each weekly chapter to make it very easy for anyone to lead. If you are thinking about starting a men's group at your church or home, I highly recommend that you start with "Get Real" by Derek Maul.

A great gift for men

"Get Real" is a great book to give to the man in your life. I became familiar with the author's writing from his column in the Tampa Tribune, and his clear, intelligent, down-to-earth style comes through in this book as well. He shows the path to living a life that is grounded and spiritually authentic. I would especially recommend this book to guys in their 20s and 30's who are laying the road for their adult life and who do not want to neglect the spiritual aspect of their existence.

Derek Maul writes with an elegant clarity that helps to describe the journey for 'real men'. For him the faith journey of the Christian man has many common aspects for ALL men. The most important common thread is honest, sincere, loving fellowship. Through this type of 'real friendship', men are empowered to help lead each other to experience the love of Jesus.
