Frozen - Great Book!!

An absolutely amazing story and well written. I commend the author for his courage to whistle-blow and share his experiences with us, and commend the writer/co-author for such a good flow of the book. He kept it interesting and captivating all the way through. Great read!

Riveting! This book is an incredible well-written narrative about a normal guy thrust into a bizarre, nightmarish world. The author, Larry Johnson, risks everything and makes the brave decision to become a whistleblower and expose a seemingly untouchable company that had gone so far as to commit murder! As a result he was stalked and received death threats. I loved this book. The beginning was hilarious-- the cast of characters are obsessed with sci-fi and wear bike helmets in their car (think a Star Trek convention times a million). The middle of the book was graphic and disturbing. By the end I was literally in tears. Soon, however, my sadness turned to outrage over what this company was getting away with! The author is incredibly brave to stand up for what is right. After reading this book, I have only respect and admiration for Larry Johnson. Buy this book!! You will be amused, disgusted and enthralled!

Great Sportsman suffers an inhumane death

It took a lot of courage to do what the author did to get the documentation on what was going on at this company. This is a must read if you are interested in what happened to one of the greatest sports hero's of our time - Ted Williams. I wonder why the state attorneys of Arizona and Florida dropped the ball and distanced themselves from what this non-regulated company was doing with the bodies of those that signed up for cryonics-- they had the evidence right there in front of them. They should have prosecuted these people -- and returned Ted's remains to his family for the proper burial that Ted wanted.... And the PETA people should be outraged at the inhumane experimentation done on animals --Thank you Mr Johnson for letting us know what is going on in this world cause we are in a sad state of moral decline..........

A Former Insider Who Believes Johnson

I am a medical professional, with nearly a decade in performing hypothermic medical procedures, who has also worked in cryonics. The first 100 pages, or so, of Mr. Johnson's book were virtually identical to my own experience at Suspended Animation, in Boynton Beach, Florida, a company with close ties to Alcor. Cryonics is rife with what I consider to be self-delusional "overgrown adolescents" who think that putting on scrubs, or a white labcoat, magically transforms one into a medical professional, capable of performing complex medical procedures and making scientific history. The people performing cryonics procedures, for the most part, have little-to-no medical training, or experience, yet they are paid the same, or more, than many of their qualified counterparts. They pay their "consultants" HUGE sums of money for designing DIY medical equipment, when there are superior FDA-approved devices available for a much lower cost, and they call that "research." It wouldn't be uncommon to have someone who was actually trained as a golf pro, and two fabricators from the DIY equipment workshop, show up to do the initial steps of a cryopreservation, (in fact that DID happen, in 2007). Cryonics patient care providers regularly make serious errors that were all-but-eliminated, decades ago, in very similar conventional medical procedures, and it's time for that to stop. I respect the wishes of those who wish to be cryopreserved, and I believe even the "legally dead" deserve competent medical care, especially when many of them are directing $100K, or more, either of their own money, or of their life insurance, to pay for the gross, negligent errors of these amateurs playing doctor. I read the book, from front to back, last night, and I don't believe Mr. Johnson is lying about anything. *EDIT: I don't usually like editing something I have previously written, because I have accused others of attempting to rewrite history, when they have done that. In response to one of the comments on my review: I stand by my comment that I don't believe Mr. Johnson is lying about anything, HOWEVER, there are some stories told in the book, that are clearly unsubstantiated information he received from other sources. Johnson indicates he communicated with Alan Kunzman, (a former Riverside County Coroner Investigator and the author of "Mothermelters), who allegedly told him (Johnson) that an informant told him (Kunzman) that David Pizer and the Venturists kept weapons in underground bunkers. I don't think Johnson is lying, when he repeats the information that allegedly came from Kunzman, but that information seems unreliable, to me, and I have never heard any such stories about Mr. Pizer, or his associates, from anyone I know in cryonics. I believe there were people threatening Johnson at the time he recounted the stories he had been told, and I believe he was probably scared out of his mind.
