Meh

Maybe I just chose the wrong kind of book but I really like the author so I gave it a try. I ended up finding this book really boring and hard to finish. The only interesting parts happen at the very end and even then, it wasn’t anything extraordinary.

Friendship, Love, Family

A beautiful writen story of friendship and growth. It goes through the years of Kate and Tully from when they are teens to grown adults. Throughout the story you come to love Kate and Tully. You cry with them and laugh with them. You are right alongside them as they discover what they want in life and what they don't.

The first page “grabbed me” and I couldn’t put this book down!!

Excellent book

Firefly Lane girlfriends forever

This is really touching book for anyone that’s ever had a best friend or want to understand the feeling of a best friend for life.. a real page turner!

So real..could easily relate to many of the different circumstances

Ladies will love this book..if you’ve ever had a best friend for life you will surly find yourself think back on your own experiences..makes you value the friendships

Tear Jerker supreme

I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but it truly delivered and became more in grossing the more I read. It’s a story of love and friendship between two unlikely grade school girls that progresses over time and continues into adulthood for thirty plus years. It tells of their intertwined lives and how despite different personalities their friendship thrives. Spoiler alert! This is a tear jerker: the best kind. Very much recommend

Boooorrrrring

just another romance novel

Worst book I’ve read

This story was horrible. It claims to be a story of friendship, but the entire time I wanted their friendship to end so that they can both achieve their own goals in life. This is not a story of friendship and support. This is a story of one person taking over the other persons life with no regard for their feelings or ideas. I got rid of this book immediately.

Don't read at work - it will make you cry!

The best Kristen Hannah book I've came across so far. Tried to read this at work and I couldn't stop crying lol - wonderfully written and a very realistic view on the complications of mother daughter relationships, illness, fame, and even conceiving struggles. 10/10

Good book

This was the first I have read of this author and now I need all her books. It was hard to put down once I started reading.

Emotional, touching story

FIREFLY LANE is probably my favorite of all Hannah's novels. Why? Because my female friendships are so important to me and this book explores so many of the reasons why. Others have synopsized the story, so I won't. I'll just say that I agree with the reviewer who said Kristin Hannah is at the top of her game now and FIREFLY LANE is a book you won't be able to put down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Wonderful Read

Firefly Lane Kristin Hannah's new novel, Firefly Lane is a wonderful read. The story begins with two very different girls who become best friends. Their friendship spans over three decades with their high points and low points, closeness and distance. However over the course of three decades they remain best friends. Firefly Lane is the touching, powerful story of two women and the friendship that becomes the great strength in their lives.

Get the Kleenex!

For anyone that ever love Beaches this is the book for you. It's a story that covers 30 years of friendship, the ups and the downs and everything in between. It is also a story about mothers and daughters. I picked up the book on Thursday night and couldn't put it down until I finally finished it on Sunday. I do have to say that around page 350 the book drags for a while. But the ending does not dissapoint. I couldn't make it through the last 50 pages with out my tissue. For anyone that has a best friend, you need to read this book!

Fab chick lit about the power of friendship

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah is the story of TullyandKate. Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey become friends in 1974 when they are both 14-year-old girls in Washington State. Their friendship weathers the changes of fashions, careers, children, and miles as they grow up, apart and together. Tully is the daughter of a drug addicted hippie who wanders in and out of her life. Kate is grounded by her strong Irish Catholic family, and each envies the others' lifestyle. Tully provides Kate with a much needed makeover, and Kate gives Tully a family and direction in her life. Tully quickly grabs hold of the dream of being an anchorwoman and depends on it to take her from foster care into a world where everyone loves her. Kate follows along on Tully's coattails for awhile until she falls in love with John, a TV news producer who at first only has eyes for Tully, but soon falls for Kate's sweetness and stability. Tully's career takes off like a rocket while Kate makes time as a stay at home mom, but both have regrets and questions about their chosen careers. Their friendship waxes and wanes through the years, but it's an amazing journey. Hannah has a way of writing that makes it difficult to put the book down. Her writing is both lyrical and earthy, capturing moments with almost painful poignancy: But no matter how hard they all tried to be normal, their life was a dirty window that couldn't be wiped clean. Everything, every moment was coated by illness. The story of TullyandKate is one of love and forgiveness and kept me up until 1:30 in the morning until I finished it in tears.

Highly Recommended & Perfect !! Keep the Hankies Handy

I usually begin my reviews with a brief synopsis, but in the case of Firefly Lane, I want to get the important stuff out there first: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Kristin Hannah is at the top of her game with this emotional three hanky read! Just what is a friend? And what would you do for your best friend? What kind of sacrifices would you make? Many of us will never find this out. But some of us will. Some of us already know. Kristin Hannah shows us with this outstanding novel what friendship really is and how it can endure over the years. She shows us the power of friendship. Now for the a few details - without revealing so much as to rob readers of discoveries they should make themselves. Kate Mularkey and Tully Hart meet when they are in junior high - both felt they were outsiders. Tully comes into Kate's life a low point. She is the most beautiful, classiest person she has ever met - and she has moved right across the street. But Tully has a secret, one she hides with a lie. Eventually Kate learns to trust Tully and they become best of friends with a friendship that lasts through college and as their lives take very different paths. But this doesn't mean everything is always easy between the two. And it doesn't mean that one isn't jealous of the other, but it does mean that they are there for one another. Which, as the story evolves, reveals itself in a powerful way. Those who grew up in the 70s will love the references to the songs as the decades go by. Those who grew up in the Pacific Northwest will enjoy all the references to familiar events and locations that make everything come to life and lend an air of authenticity to the novel. I have followed Kristin Hannah's writing career from the beginning. From its start in historical romance and a hero with the unusual name of Stone Man McKenna to a wonderful time-travel set in the San Juan Islands (Once In Every Life) to the gut-wrenchingly emotional If You Believe to her breakout novel On Mystic Lake and then several bestselling novels that have made her a favorite with readers everywhere. Now with Firefly Lane she has simply reached the summit of the mountain. Make yourself comfortable - set yourself by the fireplace, grab a cup (or two or three) of your favorite beverage, a box of tissues, and put your feet up. You'll be there for awhile because you won't want to put this book down once you've started. Oh - and you'll probably want to have your best friend's phone number handy for you'll want to phone her as soon as you finish.

This year was not short of standout literary highlights. One of the greatest novels of the twentieth century; To Kill a Mockingbird got "sequelled" with the acclaimed Go Set a Watchman, replete with a less prosaic Atticus Finch. Then, as the year progressed, two acclaimed authors reached out to us from beyond the grave, via their publishing houses. Dr. Seuss added to his body of two acclaimed authors reached out to us from beyond the grave, work when What Pet Should I Get, was unearthed in the office of the late author, complete with illustrations. Then along came The Girl in the Spider's Web, a further addition to the Millennium series which is a rare feat, since the author, Stieg Larsson died of a heart attack in 2004. This "quartet-maker" is very successfully channelled (or dare I say ghost written) by David Largercranz.
