Better than the Movie

I read this book because it is now a BET movie and I wanted to compare how true the movie would be to the story line. The books are always better.Michael Williams is a popular Talk Show host accustomed to being in the public eye, he is also a man that has not allowed his celebraty status to define him as a man. Michael is a man who knows what he wants and goes after it and what he wants is Holly Aimes. Holly is the daughter of a politican, the first African American govenor of his state now with a seat on the Senate. Holly hates her life was thrust into public attention first by her father, then through her disasterous engagement with an actor. She only wants a quiet existence.Michael realizes he must help her overcome her deep insecurities if he is going to make her a permanent part of his life. Michael's patience, sincerity and love finally allow Holly the acceptance first of who she really is then for a life that will make her eternally happy.

Quick and Good Read

This book was a very good read. It moved at a fast rate and will take you only a day if that.Being in the public eye was something that Holly hated. Her father was in politics and her ex-fiance' was an actor. Holly swears that she will not be in the public eye again. But then she meets the talk show host Micheal.Micheal tears down her walls for true love. It is hard for him to get her to understand that no matter what people will say, the people that know you and love you will always know the truth. This book was very good but it could have been longer.

A good, quick read

Fire and Ice is a fairly short novel which sizzles. This was my first Carla Fredd novel and it will not be the last. The characters are believable and stay true to form. The scenes run easily into each other and do not appear contrived, as is frequently the case in many short novels. The love scenes are hot and sensuous. While the novel is short there is sufficient character development to make you understand and care for the main characters Holly and Michael. And the ending was set up beautifully and was magnificent. The mild reversal in roles, with Holly taking the initiative was very refreshing.A little too short and shallow to earn 5 stars in my opinion, but a lovely romance to curl up with on a lonely afternoon.

Fire and Ice = Hot Ice

Michael Williams and Holly Ames have something in common. They both have lived very public lives. He as a late-night talk show host. She as the daughter of a Southern governor, the sister of an actor and the former fiancee of a movie star. The difference? Michael chose his lot in life, Holly was born into it. Michael accepts it; Holly does not. After her high-profile fiancee runs off with another woman, she vows to stay out of the spotlight forever. However, her father's political campaign and a chance meeting with the highly visible talk-show host threaten her resolve. How does a girl refuse the man dubbed, "The Sexiest Black Man in America"? Ask Holly. Carla Fredd has written another story of relationships and trusting hearts set in metropolitan Atlanta. Her characters are embraceable and believable.
