Easy Play Versions

The book arrived in great shape, however, unlike my many other Readers Digest Music books - all purchased here - , this one disappointingly contains easy play versions without the jazz and pizazz I was hoping for and treasure. I ordered this based on reviews - it would be good for beginners. Less than a handful of songs in this one are transcribed with the flair that makes my other Readers Digest Song Books so fun and collectible..

This is superb piano music!

This isn't easy play junk, the songs are beefy fully chorded & wonderfully arranged. Great songs like You Go To My Head, In The Mood, Charleston, Body & Soul, Marines Hymn, Someone To Watch Over Me, What's New?, Heaven Can Wait, America, Star Spangled Banner, Shenandoah, As Time Goes By, The Man I Love, Night and Day, Embraceable You and more. These are advanced renditions, not crummy remakes that leave out all the soulful flats & sharps and heavily chorded & lots of arpeggios. Its a wonderful book, mine has lasted 35 yrs of heavy use! I would never part with it!

Reader's Digest Family Songbook

This book was in much better condition than I expected. No damage at and was really surprised I was able to get it. Have wanted it for years once mine was destroyed by water.

Songbook in New Condition

The price of this book was good as well as the condition. It has been out of print and I was glad to obtain a copy.

A treasure

I found this book to give to my dad's 85th birthday and the lady was so kind to get it shipped in time for his birthday! I'll do business with her again.

A nice family songbook

This is a very pleasant collection of early American songs as well as popular songs from the World Wars. There is a brief "bio" of each song and the arrangements are fairly simple. It is a nice collection for singing and playing the piano. In my family, my Grandfather plays the music and my brother and I sing the words. We've entertained for many gatherings in our piano room that way to everyone's delight. It makes for a pleasant evening.

Great chording

This is a great songbook for the indtermediate player. The arrangements are full of wonderful rich harmony chording that is not hard to follow. I love a great deminished 7th chord and this book has it. I own five of the Readers Digest song books and whish I had more. In particular I would suggest "The Treasury of Great Showtunes" from this same series.
