Meet Detective Inspector Andy Gilchrist of the constabulary of St. Andrews, Scotland, as he races the clock to stop a serial killer Six corpses have appeared in the cobbled back streets of St. Andrews in recent times, all known spousal abusers who suffered the same gruesome fate: stabbed to death in the left eye. But with no new leads left to explore, detective Andy Gilchrist is forced off the case. What is the significance of the left eye? Gilchrist can't seem to focus on anything else, and with his career and his reputation on the line, he vows to catch the killer even if it means he must do it alone.
This new author does a great job of capturing the wonderful mix of very real charactors and gritty living in the golf famous town of St Andrews on the bitter cold east of Scotland. Its an exciting story ,as a dispirted but clever police detective trys to make sense out of a serial killer in their midst at the same time dealing with the guilt and remorse of losing his wife to another , then finding out she has terminal cancer. His going it alone style of detective work reminds me of Dirty Harry with the same type of problems with his superiors who think he has lost it . I am looking forward to the second book by this new author
