Excellent Bible study for the lay person!

This is an excellent book for a small group Bible study as well as an informative and interesting book to study on your own. Heath has written this book in a way that is easy for the "ordinary person" to follow and encourages one to want to learn more about these particular Biblical characters.

This book spoke to me personally as an "ordinary" person

This book is different from most other Christian books I've read because it feels like it's speaking to me as an individual, not as part of a faceless crowd. Something about the author's style makes it seem like he's talking right to me. I don't know the Bible very well, but this book gives just enough background and commentary on each of the Bible characters so that I could follow along very well. It also made me want to read more about them in the Bible to find out even more. The good thing about this book is that it's easy for anyone to understand, even someone who isn't very Bible literate. But it's also got a lot of commentary and information for people who are at a higher level so they can get a lot out of it too.

How exciting to read, in a new light, about how God used ordinary people like us to do His work in exciting ways! After reading the chapters, it is easy to apply their stories to our lives. And for a more in depth study, it is wonderful to go through the questions, and read the answers in the back. I also appreciated the many bible passage references. I have highly recommended this book to friends and family.
