Book Overview

All her life, Elphame never felt like she belonged. From birth she was always set apart, infinitely different from her family and the people of Partholon, because she had so obviously been touched by the great Goddess Epona.

When she feels the call of the ancient and crumbling MacCallan Castle, deserted since the Formorian war over a century ago, Elphame knows that she belongs to its impressive walls, fated to be its keeper. With the help...

I love this series and I do so hope there are more.

Excellent Novel

I recently discovered P. C. Cast through Goddess of Spring. Over the course of nine days, I read Goddess of Spring, Goddess of Light, Goddess of the Sea, and Elphame's Choice (in that order). I could not put any of them down. I am eagerly anticipating Goddess by Mistake (yeah, I know I read them out of order). Her writing is amazing. The imagery is fantastic. I was sad to see the story come to an end, but I can't wait until Brighid's Quest comes out, and the story continues. I honestly can not remember loving any author's work this much. I highly recommend all of her novels.

A book for fantasy romance lovers!

P.C. Cast is a entirely new writer for me. I picked up Elphame's Choice because first the publisher was Luna and also the cover of the book looks amazing. Elaphame and her lifemate Lochlan are completely different charaters for any I have ever read before. Elaphame is a beautiful women on the top part of her body and has strong horse legs on the bottom, which have been touched by the goddess Epona. While Lochlan is part demon, with sharp vampire like teeth, talon feet and strong velvet wings. The bond shared between Elphame and Lochlan is nothing short then touching. This book is truely fill with the struggle of love and acceptance.P.C. Cast is a wonderful writer who brings the characters emotions off the pages and your heart. I will for sure be read the sequal to this book "Bridget's Quest" and also the book "Goddess by Mistake" which is set in the same world. All and all I strongly recommend this book to fantasy romance lovers!

A fantastic read!

I can always count on P.C. Cast for a compelling fantasy that takes my breath away and "Elphame's Choice" is no exception. I was skeptical when "Goddess by Mistake" touted love between and centaur and a human. Didn't seem physically possible and not necessarily a sexy/romantic/something I could day-dream about. I ate crow when I was proven wrong, but somehow, experienced the same doubts when I read that Elphame has hooves (only two not four) and her one, true love has wings and is half demon. But Lochlan is tortured and sexy and slightly edgy, my all time fav, and Elphame is strong, insecure, lonely, beautiful, and successful, just like all of my very best friends. A glass of wine and "Elphame" makes for a very satisfying night. I can't wait for "Brighid's Quest" in 2005.

could not put this one down!

I've ever been a fan of the fantasy genre and i never really gave romance much of a chance. I have to say that P.C.'s newest novel has opened my eyes. Her blend of fantastical worlds and hero's mixed with sizzlin' romance and well-researched mythology kept my nose buried deep in this book. I am now gonna read her first three books and i anxiously await her next Goddess Summoning book! Keep the good books coming! ~sarA~

Great romantic fantasy

Ephame is the offspring of a mating between a human and a centaur; from the waist up she is human, but from the waist down she is covered with brown hair and has cloven hoofs. Her genes make her stronger and faster than her human counterparts. Although she loves her mother, she needs to make a life for herself. She intends to return Castle MacCallan to its former glory and become the new clan chieftain. Centaurs and humans welcome her as the rightful owner. Ephame meets the half-human half Fomonian Lachlan; they fall in love even though their races are enemies ever since his invaded Parthelon, destroyed Castle MacCallan, and kidnapped human women because their own are sterile. Lachlan believes that Ephame is the person that the prophecy foretold would lift the curse of the hybrids and allow the evil Fomonian side to vanish. He also fears the cost to his beloved is too high, but his race plans to insure the fulfillment of the prophecy. EPHAME'S CHOICE is a beautiful adult fantasy about two "Romeo and Juliet" hybrids falling in love with the backdrop of cross species hatred to keep them apart. Ephame always felt like the odd person although her neighbors and family respect her. When she strikes out on her own she gains the self confidence that she lacked and quickly becomes a leader worthy of ruling. Her mate is her equal prepared to ostracize himself amidst his people to help his beloved. Together they cast the keeper shelf spell on readers. Harriet Klausner
