Beautiful artwork, and a story that can only be described as "epic"

The artwork in Earthsong is a fairly unique style, and over time continues to improve as the artist continues the story. The first volume (this one) is actually entirely redrawn, and some of the original story has been revised for the print edition. The result of this is a very beautiful book, cover-to-cover. From the first page spread, which features the main character laying under a beautiful tree, to the pages in which we meet the main villain, this book does not dissapoint either in drawing or writing. The story is as stunning as the artwork, with character depth being the primary draw for me. Characters like Nanashi, K'thonya, and Felucca become quick favorites as the main character (named Willow) learns more about them, and more about her new surroundings in a quest to find out who exactly, or what exactly she is. Earthsong is definitely a story that anyone can pick up (it's child-friendly), and is beautifully drawn and written so it will also keep you entertained throughout. The only bad part about it, is when you get to the last page and realize you can't keep going.

Absolute Eye candy

There are so many reasons why Earthsong is worth buying. Number one has to be the art though, it's one gorgeous page after the other. The colors are jaw dropping, the characters are extremely well designed, and overall if for nothing else you'll want to buy it just to be able look at something this gorgeous. But you'll want to buy it for more then that. Because the storyline is as good as the artwork. It's engaging and unique, but has a lot of very familiar tones to it that will entertain sci-fi, fantasy, and even action/adventure fans alike. In my opinion, it's one of the best on-line to print comics since megatokyo.

Long Time Fan

Ever since I found this webcomic swimming around in near last place on the charts, I've been hooked. Since then, it has flown into a competive second place. The story kept readers coming back for more, even when the graphics weren't so great. With every page she put out, it seemed to get better. When she got the publishing deal she went back and redid every single page of volume one. The art is breathtaking and the story holds true. It's not a comic that you can predict the outcome of. Even the oldest readers don't know what's gonna happen. The story is thrown at you extremely fast but you are learning as Willow is. This comic has great graphics, storylines, and even the action is great. In the first few pages we have a battle. It never gets boring, and she's even found a way to keep you entertained during explanations. If you like the comic you should check it out online as well.

Wonderful Comic

This is my other favorite online comic. I was so happy to have found it on the internet. The story is wonderful and I just love the drawing style of the Lady Yates. I found out that she was going to be published and I just had to buy the book. It's hard for me to be able to support the comics I read, so this is what I did to try and support all the effort she has put into it. I am so glad that I bought this volume and I will deffiently be investing in future volumes.

... the love child of saterday morning cartoons and manga

What I like about Earthsong is that it's somewhere between manga and saturday morning cartoons. It has the strong female lead that is found often in manga while containing the most BIZARRE, colorful characters. Fire engine red goat men and a green woman with Medusa hair - exactly the kind of off the wall joy I want when I wake up on Saturday. That being said, there are some pit falls to the book. It is obviously a "learn - as - you - go" adventure for the artist with experimentation in photoshop and slight style improvements as you read. By the end of the book, though, everything looks pretty good and I think volume 2 will be excellent.
