Earth People
Earth People begins with a deceptively simple idea: humanity is one species sharing one world.
From that starting point, Justin Rodriguez takes readers on an expansive journey through biology, anthropology, psychology, politics, economics, education, and astronomy, challenging many of the assumptions that shape modern life. The book argues that while humans divide themselves into nations, races, religions, ideologies, and countless other identities, these divisions often obscure a more fundamental truth: before anything else, we are Earth People.
As the lens widens from human origins to the scale of planets, stars, and galaxies, Earth People asks what it means for a single self-aware species to exist on a small world in a vast universe. Along the way, it explores why people struggle to understand one another, how institutions can drift away from human well-being, and why many of the systems governing modern life may be poorly suited for the challenges humanity now faces.
Blending established science with social analysis, philosophy, and carefully signposted speculation, the book examines questions of identity, cooperation, communication, governance, education, and humanity's possible future among the stars. Later chapters venture into thought experiments and alternate ways of imagining reality, not as claims of certainty, but as invitations to think more broadly about our place in existence.
Part scientific exploration, part social critique, and part philosophical reflection, Earth People is ultimately a call for perspective: a reminder that every person alive shares a common ancestry, a common home, and a common future.
In an age increasingly defined by division, Earth People asks a simple but urgent question:
What might become possible if humanity learned to think of itself as one people on one planet?
