MJF has a good grasp of the Picard Character

Of all my favorite authors, Michael Jan Friedman is best in writing Captain Picard. This book reads almost like the TV episodes Gambit parts I and II. Only instead of Riker going with him on a mission, it's Worf. Worf is the better choice. Especially with his Klingon heritage and fighting skills. Of all of them this one has a special place in my heart because I know how well MJF makes the characters come together. He also wrote one of my favorites with Spock and McCoy called "Crossover". You can believe that this book is a sure thing for Star Trek adventure. MJF went on to write the Stargazer series.

A great second book to the series!

The Captain's Table is a place that transcends time and space. Only Captain's may enter. A wonderful concept that is carried to fruition quite exceptionally by Michael Jan Friedman in "Dujonian's Hoard." I approached this one with a little trepidation after trudging through "War Dragons." Of course, knowing the author, I knew this one would be a lot better. I was not disappointed."Dujonian's Hoard" is a wonderful tale with Captain Picard and Lieutenant Worf going undercover. They intend to find a missing Starfleet officer, Richard Brant who was searching for the hoard and return him to the Federation. This is a really well done tale. While others might have thought the interruptions from the other bar patrons distracting, I rather enjoyed the character interactions.Overall an excellent story by one of the best authors in the Trek series. Thank you to the author for this one!

Worthy of a Captain

I just finished the first two books in the Captain's Table series and found them to be a great addition to the Star Trek series."Dujonan's Hoard" has a strong storyline that adds depth, and a passing romance, to Jean-Luc Picard. The action was great, along with introduce a few new wrinkles to our scientific knowledge that was clearly missing from the New Frontier series books (5 & 6).Welcome aboard to this new series!-- David Hess

A witty, action-packed novel!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! My two favorite TNG characters team up to find a missing explorer, confronting danger and intrigue along the way. Picard is written very intelligently, and given a touch more wit than we've seen from him in a while. His companions at the Captain's Table, add spice and different POV's to his fascinating tale, helping to further entrance the reader. We join them as they listen to Jean-Luc Picard's telling of one of his greatest adventures, and their opinions sometimes mirror our own thoughts. A really neat concept and a highly recommended read!

One of the Best Star Trek I've Read - and I've Read a Few

Excellent book! Light years better than Captain's Table #1. This one was just a slam bang action-adventure, something that I just haven't seen very much in the Star Trek books, and every now and then, you need a book like this. Picard and Worf go undercover on the crew on an adventure-seeking vessel captained by a tough, gorgeous redhead. Their mission is to find a missing ex-Starfleet officer and keep an archeological treasure of enoromous power from falling into the wrong hands. To do this, the crew must go into a previously un-entered area of space (surprise!). What they find is not what they expect, and to get there, they must fight several alien races. There is some spectacular action in this book, including several space battles and lots of hand to hand combat. Picard also has a hint of romance for himself. Unfortunately, as usual, it's just a hint. An excellent read though, and I could hardly put it down to go to work. I anxiously await the 3rd installment in this six-book series.
