Easy read, very helpful

This book is very relatable as the author uses stories from his clients to give great examples of husband/wife interaction that lead to communication issues in marriage. The writing, therefore, isn't always "counselor speak" as the client diaglogues he uses make the book easy and more interesting to read. I am a Christian, and I realize that Dr. Carter (the author) is as well, but I wouldn't say that this book is just for Christians. Christianity isn't a theme of this book. I would encourage people of any faith to read it. It has been immensely helpful to me.

Very helpful book

If the title of this book caught your eye, please order it. If I had read this book years ago, my marriage might not have dragged on in agony for so long. I'm NOT saying this book ended all the problems, but it brought a lot of things to light that I didn't know or recognize. If you are a hurting wife, please order this book, it explains in clear terms that you are not the reason your husband is so distant. There is a short section on things you can do to get him to open up, but you can take it or leave it, it's not an instruction manual on how you should act, it focuses on the husband's brain and where he is at. Again, I don't agree with everything written in the book, but it helped us break down some major communication barriers. You deserve better in your Christian marriage, and if your husband is truly a Christian, then he should comfort you by reading and discussing this book with you. Didn't God plan for our marriages to be happy? We are not creating a good example for Christ if we are miserable in our marriages, please get this book and start working toward a HAPPY marriage for the legacy of Christianity. I also recommend 'Discovering the Heart of a Man' by Ken Nair, it is one of the best books you will find to help you understand your distant Christian husband.

Changed my Attitude and Life

When God speaks to us we never know what form it will be in. I believe God led me to read "Distant Partner" by Christian based author, Dr. Les Carter. Distant Partner taught me how to communicate with my spouse. Not only did the book teach me how to be a better communicator, but it showed me how to be secure in myself and not rely solely on my spouse for my inner-security and happiness. I highly recommend this AWESOME book! This book changed my life.
