Frightened and fatigued from a long journey, Hector seeks the help of Lord Dow (lawyer) and Ex Lieutenant Gregory Armstrong, who fights for his cause. Hector wins his case and his scheming uncle and his son get their just rewards. Hector becomes the second Earl of Lanark.
